I have very easily managed to setup my own private network with three peers.

• linux server in a data centre
• osx laptop - roaming
• linux dev server at home

I am able to setup the linux server in a data centre as a peer in config files of the other nodes.

When my laptop is on the same lan as the dev server they auto discover each other and can peer directly. When my laptop is on 5G it can still access the my dev server via the linux server in the data center.

VSCode remote ssh works great with this setup.
