Restructure Home Page

The home page is pretty bare, let's start to add some content:

• about CDC
• members and participating groups
• community announcements
• the next 2-3 upcoming events
• discord widget Add Discord Widget to Homepage #5
• email signup Add Mailing List Widget/Popup #6
• email digest signup form Add Monthly Digest Signup #7
• GitHub buttons for stars/watch the CDC org

More ideas welcome :)

https://flowbite.com has some nice tailwind-compatible elements that we can make use of.

These are sufficient for me to start and raise a few prs in order. Is there particular color palette for me to use?

I noticed that the page is not fully responsive, so I will add an extra point for that specifically.

I am adding this for reference Responsive Design. Can you add the 'enhancement' label to it? I don't have the right permissions

Side note: How did you reference an issue like that? I can use the #[issue number] syntax but it looks a bit ugly.
