Microsoft recently announced general availability of Azure Monitor query SDK's in the 4 languages below

Thanks. Azure PowerShell intends to support REST API directly. if the feature is not REST API oriented, we have to be very carefully because libraries may contain unsupported or conflicted dependency with other Azure PowerShell module. Is there doc about the feature of monitor query? |

Business impact per discussion with @dcaro for next semester prioritization: In an on-prem environment, one can query operating system-level events and performance data natively using PowerShell. In the Azure ecosystem, this data is stored in a log analytics workspace. When the client faces any issue with VMs in Azure it is easier to request access to read the workspace alone rather than requesting access to the production virtual machines. However, one cannot interact with the log analytics workspace data plane natively using PowerShell as one can in other languages like Python or Kusto. So, one has a dependency on Kusto experts to diagnose customer issues more efficiently and sometimes request access to the virtual machines to query operating system events natively using PowerShell. It would be convenient if PowerShell could interact with the data plane natively as other languages can. I believe other admins who know PowerShell but not Kusto would receive help from that immensely. |

No @slavikn84, this is for PowerShell interaction with the management plane only. The data plane interaction is still in Kusto. There needs to be PowerShell SDK for data plane interaction, so one could write the query in PowerShell like one can in Python etc. |
